Connect Suicide Training

The Connect program is recognized as a comprehensive model for planning and implementing suicide prevention and postvention practices. ALL Together representatives are trained to facilitate a “gatekeeper training” for the general community such as parents, volunteers, businesses, or civic groups.

There are also protocols designed for roles and responsibilities of people working in specific disciplines, such as education, law enforcement, or social services.

If you are interested in scheduling a training for your staff, please contact us.

Words matter. Use person-centered language.

In any context, it is important that an individual feels seen as more than their mental health condition, illness, or other challenges.

Describing a person by their mental or physical condition is de-humanizing, reducing them to the sum of their symptoms. This problem is exacerbated by the way mental health is portrayed in the media, resulting in stigmatization, negative thoughts, and a more difficult recovery.

Use these examples of person-centered language to support those around you. Remember to put the person first.
